An Eventful Week!

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Brandon is finally Potty trained!!!  He’ll be three in April, so I was ready for him to be done.  Ben got 4 teeth and started walking.  He’s 8 1/2 months old… and I know it doesn’t sound real, but he took 20 steps this week, I caught it on video so I’ll post it later.  I’ve started to retake pictures for a new quick reference book to go along with a new Signing 4 Baby DVD… I don’t want to be pregnant in this one!  What a great week.

I love my signing baby!

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

Ben just turned 8 months old and recognizes 5 signs and can sign 1.  This is so fun! I have three kids, so this is my third time personally teaching one of my children sign language and it is still so amazing.  I love the way Ben watches me and smiles with pride when he actively communicates with me.

Oh yeah, I thought you guys might enjoy watching this fun infomercial that I’m in.  Don’t make fun of me, I was major pregnant with Ben, but it’s fun to watch.

I hope everyone is having as much fun as I am signing with their babies.

Ben and Dad

Ben has started to show so much personality.  He just turned 4 months old, time sure does fly.  It’s so great how much the family pulls together when a new baby is born.  Our older children can’t get enough of Ben.  I’ve started doing a few signs with Ben like “eat”, “more”, “all done” and “milk”.  It will be a while before he starts to sign back things to me, but I’m certain he’ll be understanding the signs very soon… who knows maybe he already understands.

Annie using Baby Sign Language

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

I started signing with Annie at 6 months, but she didn’t start signing back to me until 11 months. Even though your baby might not be signing yet, don’t forget that there’s a lot still going on.  For instance, One stage that I thought was fascinating was when she started to comprehend the signs. The first one I noticed her recognizing was eat. When she’d start to fuss I’d sign eat and she would instantly stop crying and start reaching for her food.

It was amazing… it made me pay attention to how much she probably understood and I just hadn’t noticed. This stage of her signing happened in the first month I signed with her. So remember to pay attention and look closely so you don’t miss out.
