Brandon is finally Potty trained!!! He’ll be three in April, so I was ready for him to be done. Ben got 4 teeth and started walking. He’s 8 1/2 months old… and I know it doesn’t sound real, but he took 20 steps this week, I caught it on video so I’ll post it later. I’ve started to retake pictures for a new quick reference book to go along with a new Signing 4 Baby DVD… I don’t want to be pregnant in this one! What a great week.
Too busy? The holidays are a great time to give your baby extra attention, and here’s how. When family is around and they want to play and hold your baby, teach them the signs you have been working on. Your relatives will love learning the new signs and then they can work with your baby too. Even younger kids who play with your baby can pick up a new sign quickly and sign it for you. It makes a great time with family and really enhances your holiday experience with your extended family. Just for fun try the signs for Thanksgiving or Christmas!
Thanksgiving: with two flat hands at chin sign thank you and then extend your flat hands out one more time as if to give.
Christmas: left arm bent in front of your body, palm down, right hand with “C” handshape starting at left arm and then arcing up from left arm to end with right arm bent in front, palm left and hand in “C” handshape.
Ben just turned 8 months old and recognizes 5 signs and can sign 1. This is so fun! I have three kids, so this is my third time personally teaching one of my children sign language and it is still so amazing. I love the way Ben watches me and smiles with pride when he actively communicates with me.
Oh yeah, I thought you guys might enjoy watching this fun infomercial that I’m in. Don’t make fun of me, I was major pregnant with Ben, but it’s fun to watch.
My name is Susan and my 23 month old grandson, Tyler, has lived with me since birth. I began using sign language with him around 8 months old. He never seemed interested in signing the words, instead any word we would try to teach him in sign language he would just speak it. Now at 23 months he will use the sign and the spoken word. His vocabulary is amazing. At 18 months he had the vocabulary of over two years. I know at two years, he is going to top 2 1/2 to a 3 year old vocabulary. I think this story is important because my daughter, (Tyler’s mom), lives with me and she just gave birth to identical girl triplets born on 10-11-08. I can not wait until they are old enough to begin doing sign language.
I would love to try out your products and give you feedback. Over the next two years it would be fun to video tape the triplets signing and watching Tyler teach the girls sign language. I look forward to hearing from you.
Ben has started to show so much personality. He just turned 4 months old, time sure does fly. It’s so great how much the family pulls together when a new baby is born. Our older children can’t get enough of Ben. I’ve started doing a few signs with Ben like “eat”, “more”, “all done” and “milk”. It will be a while before he starts to sign back things to me, but I’m certain he’ll be understanding the signs very soon… who knows maybe he already understands.
